Logistical requirements
Presentation and Marketing guidelines and requirements
Teams must have a website that is maintained and updated with current information. The website must include Contact information, team roster, schedule, and statistical information regarding standings. Player statistics is not required, however recommended. Social Media Sites are not recognized as official team websites. They are a means of promotion and an effective way of marketing. Social media sites include and are not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Xanga, MySpace, You Tube, etc.
Uniform guidelines
The team must be presentable in matching uniforms in its entirety. This includes helmets with matching shell color, facemasks, and decals. Jerseys and Pants must also match, as well as socks. Cleats and other ancillary equipment should be presented in individual team colors.
Game Field Amenities
Team Home Fields must include a minimum of one locker room or a facility that is suitable for players and staff to change clothing and maintain a clear separation from the public eye. It is recommended that fields have a locker room for both the home and visiting teams each. The field can either be natural grass, or field turf that has been properly maintained, and that is safe for use during practices and games. The field must also be lined properly with regulation markings for American Football. All fields must have an operational score board, stadium seating for fans, lights, and a PA System.
Ancillary items are also required to be available and in use during official games. This includes, but is not limited to yard markers, goal post padding, field chain gear, and down markers. It is required by the home team to provide a full chain crew on game day.
Competition requirements
Roster guidelines
Teams must have a minimum 35 man roster average throughout the season. Maximum roster counts are dependent on individual league standards. By MLFV Standards, for post season bowl games, the minimum roster count must be observed, and a maximum count is set at 60 players.
Staff guidelines
All teams should have a minimum of three personnel on the team coaching staff, which includes a Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Defensive Coordinator. There is no limit to the maximum number of coaching staff members.
Statistical reporting guidelines
All teams must report wins, losses, and scores for power rankings through the MLFV. Power rankings will be generated bi-weekly to track a team’s progress throughout the season. The MLFV will operate one main power ranking system only, which is the composite ranking system. The ranking system will be germane to teams within leagues that are associated with the MLFV.
Games
Teams must play quarters that are 15 official minutes in length in regards to the game clock. Real game times will vary. Teams will field 11 players on offense, defense, and special teams. Teams will adhere to College Game Operating Rules at minimum, and have the option to operate under NFL rules if they so choose. In regards to overtime, the MLFV recognizes and will use collegiate NCAA guidelines, and not sudden death overtime.
Teams must play a minimum of 10 regular season games that will be the basis for the power ranking system. Pre-season games, scrimmages, and other pre-season bowl games will not be calculated into the rankings system. All teams must not inquire forfeit losses. Should a team be forced to forfeit they will be eliminated from rankings, regardless of power rank position. Forfeit losses are a zero tolerance offense.
Compliance & Conduct
Teams must be in compliance with their individual league’s standards both in competition guidelines as well as logistical guidelines. Should a team not meet their obligations and that information can be verified, any violators will not be ranked, and may not participate in any post season and post league bowl games. Furthermore if a team has been under any disciplinary action or has been found to have conduct that is detrimental to their team, league, or community the MLFV will not associate or allow the organization in question to participate in any MLFV Sanctioned events, or Bowl Games, and this also includes power rankings.
Compliance violations include, but are not limited to outstanding league fees, team fines, team dismissal from their respective league(s) for disciplinary action, social misconduct and conduct that negatively effects semi-pro, minor league, and amateur athletics (i.e. field dismissals, in game fighting, unprofessional behavior and presentation, etc.)*
*It is incumbent upon each league’s governing body to report teams within their league(s) that are not in compliance with the aforementioned guidelines above. Failure to report any violations will not affect any teams in question or violation with their respective leagues and surrounding sports communities.
